From 2nd to 3rd December, 2023, “Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine Cup” 5th World Essay Competition for College Students: Internationalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine was held in Shenzhen, China. Ding Ying, master of TCM, Zhao Hong, director of Division of European, Oceania and African Affairs of the Department of International Cooperation of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Liu Baoyan, president of World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies and committeeman of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, Wu Huangan, vice president of China Association of Acupuncture-Moxibustion and deputy to the National People’s Congress, Ma Jun, member of the National Committee of CPPCC and vice president of Hubei University of Chinese Medicine, Lu Yexin, deputy director of China News of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Cao Hongxin, vice president of the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Association and Chairman of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Committee, and Song Chunsheng, Secretary of the Party Branch of China Press of Traditional Chinese Medicine Co., Ltd., Mao Jianjun, editorial board member of China News Service, Liu Chunxiang, deputy director of TCM Practitioners Qualification Certification Center of National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of China, Yue Zheng, vice president of Beijing Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine Co., Ltd and inheritor of Intangible Cultural Heritage Project in Dongcheng District, Beijing, China and other leaders and guests attended the ceremony.

Ms Zhao Hong, pointed out in her speech that TCM embodies the essence of Chinese culture and is a bridge and link for people-to-people connectivity. This competition witnessed the excellent performance of young TCM students. She hoped that young TCM talents will make a great difference on the international stage in the future and make a contribution to the international inheritance and dissemination of TCM.
At the award ceremony, Ding Ying, a master of TCM, Liu Baoyan, president of WFAS, and other experts and scholars of TCM presented trophies and award certificates to the winners. Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine, Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, and Capital Medical University on the Excellent Organization Award. Shenzhen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and Shenzhen EMPERY Media Group won the Special Contribution Award. Beijing Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine Co., Ltd as the exclusive naming supporter for this competition was awarded the Honor Support certification.
This award ceremony coincided with the 2023 International Conference on the Inheritance and Dissemination of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Contestants at home and abroad jointly read the “Proposal on the Inheritance and Dissemination of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China”, in order to inherit, develop and make good use of traditional Chinese medicine, so that the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine will benefit modern human society.

Vice President Yue Zheng gave a conclusion speech. He indicated that Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine has shown the history, culture, products and services of TCM to the overseas people for a long time and attaches great importance to the exploration and cultivation of young TCM talents. Tong Ren Tang Chinese Medicine will continue to create a better platform for learning, communication and exhibition for young TCM students, support them to inherit, spread, innovate, break through and develop, and make greater contributions to protecting human health building a global community of health for all.
Over the past five years, the event has covered more than 30 countries and regions, and more than 1,600 contestants from more than 70 colleges and universities have participated in the event. Videos related to the competition have been viewed nearly 25 million times on various social platforms. In the future, we hope more and more young TCM students will join us, run with us and become the global TCM dream chaser.
