World Federation of Acupuncture Societies 2025 International Acupuncture Academic Symposium (Sweden) Notice of the Symposium on "Cheng's Acupuncture" and Chinese Acupuncture

The 2025 International Academic Symposium on Acupuncture of the World Federation of Acupuncture Societies (WFAS) will be held in Stockholm, Sweden from September 18 to 22, 2025. During the conference, the "Special Academic Session on 'Cheng's Acupuncture' and Chinese Acupuncture" will be co-hosted by the Inheritance Studio of National Master of Chinese Medicine Cheng Xinnong (China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences), the 3+3 Cheng Xinnong Famous Expert Studio (Beijing University of Chinese Medicine), the Professional Committee of Sancai Needling Technique (China Association of Acupuncture-Moxibustion), People's Medical Publishing House, and Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press.

Purpose of this Special Academic Session:

To solemnly commemorate Academician Cheng Xinnong, the editor-in-chief of Chinese Acupuncture (English edition) and a National Master of Chinese Medicine in the field of acupuncture; to promote the cultural essence of the national intangible cultural heritage "Cheng's Acupuncture"; to advance academic exchanges and development of "Cheng's Acupuncture"; and to gather global acupuncture scholars to jointly discuss the multilingual application of Chinese Acupuncture and the clinical innovation of Cheng's Acupuncture, further promoting the international standardization of acupuncture and the living inheritance of Cheng's Acupuncture as an intangible cultural heritage. We sincerely invite you to participate in this special academic session to engage in academic exchanges and share clinical experiences. The relevant information is announced as follows:

II. Theme and Content of the Special Academic Session

(1) Theme:

Inheriting the Treasures of TCM Acupuncture Intangible Cultural Heritage and Jointly Promoting the International Spread of Cheng's Acupuncture

(2) Content:

Cheng's Acupuncture, a national intangible cultural heritage (listed in the fifth batch of cultural heritage list in 2021, number Ⅸ-5), was founded and developed by Academician Cheng Xinnong, representing the academic essence and clinical pinnacle of acupuncture. As a pioneer in international acupuncture training in New China, Academician Cheng dedicated his life to acupuncture clinical practice, teaching, and research, training over 20,000 international students, and is hailed as a global promoter of "spreading acupuncture." His magnum opus, Chinese Acupuncture, is regarded as a classic by acupuncturists in 106 countries worldwide. Since 1984, this textbook has been adopted as the national exam material by international acupuncture training centers in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, and others. Its multilingual editions (Chinese, English, French, German, Russian, etc.) have facilitated the global popularization of acupuncture.

(2)Summary of practical experience as exam materials in different countries since 1984

(3)Sharing of clinical application experiences guided by Chinese Acupuncture

(4)Revisions and editorial features of the latest editions (Chinese and English) of Chinese Acupuncture

Academic Discussion 2: Inheritance of National Intangible Cultural Heritage 'Cheng's Acupuncture'

(1)In-depth discussion on the academic philosophy of "Cheng's Acupuncture" as a national intangible cultural heritage

(2)Special reports on the theoretical essence of the "Sancai Needling Technique" founded by Academician Cheng Xinnong

(3)Sharing of syndrome differentiation and acupoint selection characteristics in common clinical diseases treated by Cheng's Acupuncture

(4)Exhibition of the six-generation inheritance lineage and international dissemination achievements of Cheng's Acupuncture

Academic Discussion 3: Solicitation of Thematic Papers on 'Clinical Application of Cheng's Acupuncture'

Outstanding works will:

(1)Receive a "Cheng's Acupuncture Inheritance Practice Certificate"

(2)Be included in the editorial plan for the international edition of Essentials of Cheng's Acupuncture Clinical Practice

2.Registration Deadline: August 1, 2025 (for WFAS Conference registration)

Early-bird fee: ¥5,600 RMB (before June 15, 2025)

Regular fee: ¥6,500 RMB (after June 15, 2025)

Note: Registration fee includes lunch and dinner on September 20, and lunch on September 21. Other meals, accommodation, and transportation costs are at the participant’s expense.
