Announcement

From 27th to 30th November 2020, WFAS 2020 International Symposium on Acupuncture-Moxibustion & World Acupuncture Week for 10th Anniversary of the Inscription of Acupuncture and Moxibustion of Traditional Chinese Medicine in UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity will be held in Haikou, Hainan Province, China. The Symposium is sponsored by World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS), China Academy of Chinese Medical Science (CACMS) and Hainan Health Commission. Relevant issues are as follows:

 

Background

International Symposium on Acupuncture-Moxibustion is an international academic symposium on acupuncture and moxibustion of TCM, which is held in non-election years by WFAS. Since 1987, the Symposium has been held successfully for 27 times and became the most influential academic activities in acupuncture and moxibustion of TCM worldwide. The year 2020 coincides with the 10th anniversary of the inscription of acupuncture and moxibustion of TCM in UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Therefore, it is of special significance to hold this International Symposium on acupuncture and moxibustion.

Theme and Topic

Theme:

Inherit and Innovate TCM Acupuncture, Combat the pandemic for a Shared Future

Topic:

1. Fundamental research on acupuncture and moxibustion of TCM and the transformation and application of achievements;

2. How can acupuncture and moxibustion of TCM work in public health emergencies;

3. Preventive and therapeutic effects of TCM acupuncture and moxibustion in critical illnesses;

4. Promotion and application of appropriate techniques in TCM acupuncture and moxibustion;

5. The inheritance, protection and representative schools of TCM acupuncture and moxibustion;

6. Preventive treatment of diseases and health care by TCM acupuncture and moxibustion;

7. Application of modern information technology in TCM acupuncture and moxibustion;

8. Research on the mode, content and method of modern TCM acupuncture and moxibustion education;

9. Clinical evaluation, standardization of TCM acupuncture and moxibustion;

10.Intellectual property protection with the development of TCM acupuncture and moxibustion;

11.Research and development of TCM acupuncture and moxibustion medical instruments;

12.Health tourism, cultural communication and service trade of TCM acupuncture and moxibustion.

 

Content

The Symposium will focus on the “World Acupuncture Week” and the 10th anniversary of the inscription of acupuncture and moxibustion of TCM in UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Relying on blockchain and other digital technologies, the Symposium will integrate academic research, education and clinical education, laws and regulations, technical standards, information of trade in term of services and so forth. It aims at creating a platform where progress in industries, academic studies, researches and services related with TCM acupuncture and moxibustion converge and is made accessible. During the Symposium, pre-symposium workshops, parallel sessions focusing on various topics, exhibition etc. will be held. Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, masters of traditional Chinese medicine, inheritors of intangible cultural heritage and well-known experts in TCM acupuncture and moxibustion will be invited to make theme reports on hot academic issues. The Symposium will be held both online and offline. The main venue will provide opportunities for exchange of views, and supplemented by academic forum for communication, clinical skills demonstration and training. The languages in this Symposium are Chinese and English. 

Papers Wanted

The content of the paper should focus on the theme of the Symposium “Inherit and Innovate TCM Acupuncture, Combat the pandemic for a Shared Future” and the twelve topics for discussion (in “Theme and Topic”). Delegates are supposed to submit the abstract in both Chinese and English before 10th November, 2020. Specific requirements can be found in Appendix 2. The Symposium will publish the collection of papers in electronic edition and present credit certificate for your participation. 

Exhibition

During the Symposium, online and offline exhibitions on TCM acupuncture and moxibustion will be held, involving inscription of acupuncture and moxibustion propaganda, training and education of traditional medicine, research and promotion of Chinese materia medica, cultural industry of TCM, medical equipment and books, as well as TCM trade in term of services. Enterprises concerned are welcomed to sign up for this exhibition. Please refer to Appendix 3 for application form.
